Dr. Shelby Mailho, Psy.D, Collective Insight

I am a passionate queer woman dedicated to working with queer, trans*, and neurodivergent people. With a relational, feminist, and humanistic approach, I prioritize your personal needs and therapy goals. Offering individual therapy, gender surgery letters, and psychological testing, I find joy in helping you embrace your authentic self. I believe the key to successful therapy lies in fostering a warm, comfortable, and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

You can only do the best you can, given what you have in each moment.

Our “best” changes every day, and that’s okay! I’m here to help you build compassion for yourself, while creating and holding important boundaries so you can achieve your goals.

I acknowledge the profound impact of societal systems and norms on our current barriers and struggles, particularly within intersecting identities of race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, learned gender roles, sexuality, ability, age and generational differences, socioeconomic status, spirituality, and religion. My practice is informed by a commitment to affirming and inclusive care, with specialized training and guidance from those with lived experiences in neurodivergence, gender and sexual diversity, polyamorous and consensual non-monogamous relationships, and kink. Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with queer and trans* individuals, supporting them in exploring their identities, navigating the transition process, and offering a safe, affirming space to navigate the struggles of living in a cis and heteronormative society.

I value personal growth and continually seek out training and feedback to ensure I provide excellent care and support to my clients. Outside of the therapy space, I cherish time with my partner, friends, and beloved pets. You may even catch glimpses of my dog and cat (Whitley & Loki) during our telehealth sessions.
